Tom Tyra

Tom Tyra is an audio engineer in the DMV area, joining the Bias Team in 2019. In 2023, Tom became an audio engineer in the United States Army Band “Pershing’s Own,” the premier musical organization of the US Army. He received his Bachelor of Music in Music Technology with an emphasis in Engineering from George Mason University and a Master of Arts in Audio Sciences with a concentration in Recording and Production from the Peabody Conservatory of Johns Hopkins University.

Tom’s experience in recording and mixing spans a wide variety of musical genres including classical, jazz, R&B, funk, hip-hop, pop, rock, world music, and many other styles. Additionally, Tom has worked extensively in recording and post-production for audiobooks, podcasts, spoken word, and commercial voice-over.

With a confident and friendly demeanor, Tom provides a deep technical knowledge of recording and production techniques and theoretical insight into many performance styles to help artists achieve their very best.

Tom is also a classically trained musician. He performs and records on tuba and sousaphone with a wide variety of musical ensembles, including events for Cirque Du Soleil, D.C. United, and the Nissan Motor Corporation. He has performed at international brass music conferences and for national events including The White House National Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony pre-show.
