Jim Robeson

Jim joined Bias in 1980, as an accomplished bassist, singer and studio owner. He has added to his repertoire every year, expanding the services he offers clients to include arranger, composer, producer, and video director. He recently produced Renee McCullough’s cd Cool Me which brought her both recording and publishing contracts.

He’s been busy these last 30-something years acting as engineer or producer on hundreds of releases, with some nice accolades along the way:

  • GRAMMY Nominee for Best Engineered Record - Mary Chapin Carpenter – Time*Sex*Love
  • GRAMMY Award for Bon Appetit – Cathy Fink and Mary Marxer
  • GRAMMY Award for Scat Like Tthat – Cathy Fink and Marcy Marxer
  • Best Recording Engineer – 4 YEARS – WAMA
  • Gold sales – Mary Chapin Carpenter – Party Doll and Other Favorites
  • Video of the Year - WAMA for Afro Blue's "Nature Boy"
During the process of taking our music to the next level, he somehow manages to be part mentor, confidant, comedian and serious coffee maker! He listens intently to my suggestions. . . always respecting me as an artist. As a musician himself, he has a great sensibility to what the artist is trying to achieve and goes above and beyond the call of duty to move a project to a fantastic end. Thanks, Jim. . . can’t wait until the next go round.

As a newcomer to the studio recording process, I certainly hit the jackpot with Jim. He has to be one of the most talented people I have ever met in my life. He is a tireless worker and his professional ethic is amazing. What I appreciate the most about Jim, however, is his unbelievable patience and enthusiasm. He truly loves what he does and it shows. I have recently signed with a record label in Nashville and am now getting airplay. I have Jimmy to thank for that. I could not have done it without him.

A session with Jim is as comfortable as sitting on your favorite couch (in my case, Bias Studio B’s) because you’re sharing that couch with some of the best ears on the planet. Jim is such a talent, both technically and musically... and is always a treat to work with.
